The Postal Museum

Ticket includes unlimited access to The Postal Museum for one year from the date of your visit and one ride on Mail Rail, valid on your first visit to the Museum.

Sorted! The Postal Play Space requires a separate ticket.

Sorted! The Postal Play Space

Enjoy a 45-minute session in our play area for children 8 and under. Read our before booking your tickets. You can book Sorted! without visiting the museum, or you can purchase tickets for both experiences. Once you have added a museum ticket to your basket, you will automatically be able to book Sorted on the next page.

Adults do not need a ticket for Sorted!. Under 6 months go free.

Members

Members who would like to visit and include any unredeemed rides on Mail Rail can do so here. You can also purchase additional Mail Rail rides (Tops ups) if you have used all your membership benefits.

Annual Ticket Holders

If you are an Annual Ticket holder who would like to revisit the museum without booking an additional ride on Mail Rail, please email us at least 24 hours before your intended visit from the original booker’s email address: [email protected]

Annual Ticket holders who would like to visit and include a ride on Mail Rail can purchase a Mail Rail only ticket for £6 per person (Tops up), regardless of the original ticket type. Please note, this is for valid Annual Ticket holders only. Your existing ticket will need to be presented alongside your new Mail Rail ticket.

The Postal Museum & Mail Rail

  • Adult (25+)

  • Royal Mail staff – entry is available to current employees for a £1 admin fee. You must bring a valid ID shown on the day to gain entry. Tickets can be booked online or bought on the day.

The above tickets include:

  • Unlimited access to our exhibitions for one year from the date of first visit
  • One ride on Mail Rail (valid on your first visit at your chosen time slot)

Sorted! The Postal Play Space

  • Child (0-8) – Ticket valid during your 45 minute chosen time slot
  • Accompanying adults do not require a ticket

No, you need to purchase a separate ticket for Sorted. This can be combined with a visit to the museum, or you can book entry for just Sorted! The Postal Playspace.

To guarantee entry you must book in advance. You can buy a ticket on arrival, but we cannot guarantee entry if the museum is fully booked.

Please note, you will save money by booking in advance. The walk-up price is £1 more expensive per ticket.

We are card-only venue, and do not accept cash payments at this time.

Tickets are non-refundable, as by purchasing a ticket you are making a donation to the museum, a registered charity. Read our Ticket Terms & Conditions for more information.

In the event the museum closes due to circumstances outside of our control, you will be offered credit, to move your tickets to another date.

If there is any other reason why you cannot attend the museum, we may be able to move your tickets to a future date if you contact us 24 hours in advance of your visit date. This will be subject to an admin fee of £5.

The time on your ticket is for the estimated time you’ll ride Mail Rail if there’s no queue. You should head to Mail Rail first and we advise arriving 10mins early.

Weekends and holidays are our busiest time. You may have to queue to ride the train. On our busy days you may have to wait up to 45 minutes to ride the train, although on average the queue time is around 20 minutes.

The quieter times to visit are mid week outside of school holidays

If you have an access requirement that might make queueing difficult for you please contact Booking Support before your visit so we can support you.

Yes. If you would like to enquire about bringing a group to the museum, please visit our groups booking page for the most up to date information.

If you visited us in the past year, you already hold an annual ticket which gives you free entry to our galleries and which you can upgrade to ride on Mail Rail for £6. We recommend you book in advance, see the ‘Annual Ticket Holders’ section of this page.

Gift Aid allows us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you pay at no cost to you. You have the option to add Gift Aid when booking your tickets.

To qualify for Gift Aid you must:

  • be a UK tax payer
  • have paid the same amount or more in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year
  • agree to Gift Aid being claimed

Yes, Art Pass entitles you to 50% off entry to the museum. You can select an Art Pass ticket on the tickets page. Individual, Student, Teacher, Under 30 or Professional (previously known as a Curator) National Art Pass holders are entitled to the Adult Art Pass rate.

If you have ‘Plus Kids’ you can select the Child Art Pass rate for children in your family, who your pass covers.

If you have Double or Plus One, you can use this on 2 Adult Art Pass tickets.

Art Pass tickets are for entry to the museum and include a ride on Mail Rail and the permanent and temporary exhibitions.

You will be asked to show your pass on entry to the museum.
