Enjoy a 45-minute session in our play area for children 8 and under. Read our Rules for Sorted! before booking your tickets. You can book Sorted! without visiting the Museum, or you can purchase tickets for both experiences. If purchasing Museum and Sorted! entry, please read How to book.

If you buy a Child Sorted ticket and a Child museum ticket, you will receive a £2 discount on Sorted! entry. Adults do not need a ticket for Sorted!.

Important information: Visiting the museum and Sorted? Book your Sorted! entry approximately an hour before or after the time chosen for your museum entry.

If you are booking Sorted! entry for 3.45pm, we recommend you book Museum entry at 3pm or before. You cannot ride Mail Rail after the 3.45pm Sorted! session. The museum’s exhibitions can be explored until 5pm.

Annual Ticket Holders

If you are an Annual Ticket holder who would like to revisit the museum without booking an additional ride on Mail Rail, please email us at least 24 hours before your intended visit from the original booker’s email address: [email protected]

Annual Ticket holders who would like to visit and include a ride on Mail Rail can purchase a Mail Rail only ticket for £6 per person (Tops up), regardless of the original ticket type. Please note, this is for valid Annual Ticket holders only. Your existing ticket will need to be presented alongside your new Mail Rail ticket.

Yes, you can visit in mixed groups and there is no cap on group sizes.

The Postal Museum & Mail Rail

  • Royal Mail staff – One free entry is available to current employees. Visits must be booked online and valid ID shown on the day to gain entry

  • Unlimited access to our exhibitions for one year from the date of first visit

Sorted! The Postal Play Space

  • Child (0-8) – Ticket valid during your 45 minute chosen time slot
  • Accompanying adults do not require a ticket

Membership at The Postal Museum

We offer three types of Membership, each with different ticket allocations and other benefits:

No, you need to purchase a separate ticket for Sorted. This can be combined with a visit to the museum, or you can book entry for just Sorted! The Postal Playspace.

  1. Add ‘The Postal Museum’ Child ticket to your order
  2. Select ‘Next’ then ‘Add to Shopping cart’
  3. Select ‘Add Additional Tickets’ and choose ‘Sorted!’
  4. Add a Sorted! ticket for each child, for the same day of your visit but at least one hour before or after the time chosen for your museum ticket. The museum ticket and Sorted! session will be combined and discounted in the basket.

Tickets are currently available until 31 December 2021.

To guarantee entry you must book in advance. You can buy a ticket on arrival, but we cannot guarantee entry if the museum is fully booked.

Please note, you will save money by booking in advance. The walk-up price is £1 more expensive per ticket. Please see prices at the top of this page.

Tickets are non-refundable, as by purchasing a ticket you are making a donation to the museum, a registered charity. Read our Ticket Terms & Conditions for more information.

We can move your tickets to a future date if you are asked to self-isolate. Please contact us before the date of your visit.

In the event the museum closes due to COVID-19 we will contact you and you will be offered credit to return on a future date.

If there is any other reason why you cannot attend the museum, we may be able to move your tickets to a future date if you contact us 24 hours in advance of your visit date. This will be subject to an admin fee of £5.

Yes. If you would like to enquire about bringing a group to the museum, please visit our groups booking page for the most up to date information.

If you visited us in the past year, you already hold an annual ticket which gives you free entry to our galleries and which you can upgrade to ride on Mail Rail for £6. We recommend you book in advance, see the ‘Annual Ticket Holders’ section of this page.

Gift Aid allows us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you pay at no cost to you. You have the option to add Gift Aid when booking your tickets.

To qualify for Gift Aid you must:

  • be a UK tax payer
  • have paid the same amount or more in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year
  • agree to Gift Aid being claimed

Yes, Art Pass entitles you to 50% off entry to the museum. You can select an Art Pass ticket on the tickets page. Adult, Student and Teacher National Art Pass holders are entitled to the Adult Art Pass rate.

If you have ‘Plus Kids’ you can select the Child Art Pass rate for children in your family, who your pass covers. Art Pass tickets are for entry to the museum and include a ride on Mail Rail and the permanent and temporary exhibitions.

You will be asked to show your pass on entry to the Museum.

You can buy Gift Vouchers for General Admission tickets online and print them at home. They are redeemable for up to 1 year after purchase. Find out more >

If you booked with us and your visit was cancelled because of closure, you will have received a notification from us that you can move your booking and instructions about how to do this. If you have not received this email, please contact our Box Office.

If you have an unused gift voucher which has expired in the period of time that we have been closed to the public, we have extended the date you can redeem your voucher to 31 December 2021. Please contact the Box Office by this date to book with your expired vouchers and we will assist you.
