The Postal Museum and Mail Rail is a fantastic place to bring groups of 8 or more people.

We will be reopening on 29 October 2020. We will be operating with a severely reduced capacity, on a reduced number of days. Fill in our Groups booking form to register interest in dates after March 2021, when we hope that capacity will be increased again and timeslots will return to our usual operation.

If you are interested in enquiring about dates before March 2021, please contact [email protected] with your date of interest, desired time of arrival and the number of people in your group. We will contact you if we are able to facilitate a visit, with entry staggered across our half an hour timeslots, and with details of the required risk assessments.

The Museum’s opening hours are Thursdays 10.30am-6.30pm and Fridays-Sundays 10.30am-5pm.

Prior to 31 March 2021, entry timeslots to the museum are every 30 minutes with very limited capacity (currently 10 visitors) and if we can facilitate your group, entry will be staggered across multiple timeslots.

Catering is not currently an option. After 31 March 2021 we hope to be able to offer catering and you can request catering in the above form but we cannot guarantee this.

We offer Elevenses, Light Lunches and Afternoon Teas from £4.50 per head for group sizes 8-40. Payment must be made upon booking and menu choices confirmed up to 72 hours before your visit. Check out our menu here and be sure to add on catering when you book tickets.

You may, subject to availability move the date of your visit. You will be charged an administration fee of £5 per booking for any requested alteration.

  • There are no height or weight restrictions for Mail Rail. However, given the size of the ride we do recommend that concerned visitors review the dimensions of the carriage, which can be found here.
  • The Mail Rail ride contains conditions which may be unsuitable for those with physical or mobility issues, small children, claustrophobia, or a pre-existing condition that could be made worse by loud noises, flashing lights or confined spaces.
  • Visitors on the ride must to be able to transfer themselves in and out of the carriages without assistance and in the event of an emergency evacuation, they must be able to walk unaided on uneven terrain and in a confined space for approximately 100 meters before climbing 70 steps to the surface.
