Christmas is coming to The Postal Museum!

Immerse yourself in our magical collection of letters to Father Christmas, see the first ever Christmas card, take part in interactive storytelling sessions and ride Mail Rail with a festive twist.

The first Christmas Card and Letters to Father Christmas

From 1 November

The first ever Christmas card will be back on display along with our heart warming collection of letters to Father Christmas, sent by children from multiple generations, revealing a rich history of childhood wishes.

Mail Rail Christmas Ride

From 1 November
Included in museum ticket

Mail Rail, the 100-year old subterranean ride will have its annual festive makeover. From wartime wives wishing husbands a Merry Christmas from afar, to the broadcast of the first King’s Speech on the BBC, the immersive projections and audio will get you in the festive spirit.

Festive Tunnel Walks

1, 28 November & 5, 12 & 19 December
Separate ticket required

These special tours follow the same route as our regular Tunnel Walks, but access a small section of the tunnels not usually on the walking route, to reveal a surprising festive scene.

My Grandma’s Magic Recipes: Winter Warmth

4 & 16 November, 18 December

Join author and artist Ella Phillips in an interactive storytelling session as she brings to life her brand new children’s book ‘My Grandma’s Magic Recipes: Winter Warmth’. Inspired by the story, create your own special recipe book with Ella and take a stamped postcard home so you can send your favourite recipe to someone you care about through the post.

Home Ed day: Jolly Christmas day

13 November

A festive day of activities for Home Educators, inspired by the popular children’s book – The Jolly Christmas Postman. Expect interactive storytelling, creative activities including the chance to craft your own Christmas cards plus the opportunity to get hands on in the museums interactive galleries and ride Mail Rail.
