    Build your tool kit of engineering skills to solve real world problems old and new. Take part in live experiments to power the postal network under London. Test technologies and drive innovation forward from horsepower, pneumatic power to building Britain’s first driverless electric railway.

    Students will:

    • Experiment with Newton’s laws of motion.
    • Explore pneumatic power, air pressure and air resistance in exciting live science demonstrations.
    • Test conductivity of different materials with electric circuits.

  • Key Information:

    • Suitability: KS2
    • Duration: 45 minutes
    • Availability:
      • 2 or 3 classes on Tuesday
      • 1, 2 or 3 classes on Wednesday
    • Activities: Mail Rail ride, Mail Rail exhibition and trail, lunch slot, The Postal Museum exhibition, and Mail Rail Science Show
    • Optional extra activity (Year 3 only): Sorted! Postal Play Space
    • Class size: 20 – 35 students per class
    • Adult to student ratio: Minimum 1:6 (not including additional SEND support)
    • Visit times: Arrival 10:15, departure 13:30-14:15
    • Visit with Mail Rail ride Cost: £180 per class (students and adults within ratios)
    • Visit with Mail Rail ride and Sorted! Cost: £220 per class (students and adults within ratios) – Year 3 only
