The Postal Museum launch social media campaign to encourage postcard sending this Summer

We've partnered with Postcrossing to encourage members of the public to find the joy in sending postcards once more.

Once a widespread activity, sending a bundle of postcards from a summer holiday to family and friends back home is not as common as it once was. We want to change that.

We see the joy in receiving a handwritten postcard, and the meaningful connection and interaction that comes with it.

Those taking part are encouraged to tag @thepostalmuseum on Instagram when sending or receiving their postcard. Anyone who doesn’t have someone to send a postcard to or wants to communicate with someone new can use the Postcrossing service.

Postcrossing is a postcard exchange project where people can send and receive postcards from across the world and has over 800,000 members. Founded in 2005 by Paulo Magalhães, the project is now celebrating its 20th birthday this year and has been responsible for over 80 million postcards being received globally.

To celebrate their anniversary, we have become a member of Postcrossing and will send one postcard to a fellow Postcrossing member each month.
