Top Tips for a Great Children’s Birthday Party

Want to plan a headache-free kids' birthday party that's enjoyed by everyone? We've got you covered!

Here at The Postal Museum, we have run our fair share of Children’s birthday parties over the last few years. Here are our top tips for planning a stress-free party that your guests are sure to talk about for weeks after!

1. Budget

Kids parties can add up once you’ve factored in a Central London location, food, party bags and entertainment. Ensure you keep a firm grip on your budget by opting for a venue offering package deals, meaning no nasty surprises once you come to pay your bill.

At The Postal Museum, we offer a number of packages to make life a bit easier, including food, party bags, an exclusive party room and a session in our children’s play area, Sorted! and a ride on the Mail Rail at one price.

2. Guest List

Make sure you invite your friends and family in plenty of time! It is always worth having a chat with other parents to make sure they are not planning a party on the same day too. As part of our packages, we provide special invitations themed around your party to either send digitally or print to hand out personally.

3. Decorations

We know that Mum’s and Dad’s want to personalise parties in their own way – so we let you arrive an hour before the party starts to decorate our exclusive party room the way you like it. Bunting, balloons, fun disposable napkins and table clothes are a cost-effective way to transform the space and personalise your party. Don’t worry about the tables and chairs – we will get that all laid out for you.

Want to take the work out of the day? We’ve partnered with Blondie & The Bears who provide a full decorating service, theming our party room with beautiful and well-crafted decorations for those who want a stress free, extra special flourish.

4. Entertainment

Keeping the children entertained is key! At The Postal Museum, we keep everyone well and truly captivated – your guests can dress up and discover our immersive postal themed mini town with slides, chutes, trolleys and pulleys in Sorted! The Postal Play Space before taking a ride on our unique secret underground railway experience, Mail Rail.

5. Catering

After all that fun comes feeding hungry tummies. You can opt for a variety of different catering options, from lunch packs to pizza parties at The Postal Museum. Don’t forget about the adults too – free tea and coffee come as standard for all adults and we offer a variety of hot and cold food options too. Fancy a cheeky tipple? Prosecco, wine and beer are also available.

6. Cake!

The pinnacle of any party is a birthday cake! From special handmade creations through to professional designs, the right birthday cake will be the icing on your special day. Bring your cake along with you to The Postal Museum and we will keep it safe until it’s time to sing.

7. Party Bags

Finding the perfect gift for your guests to go home with can be time-consuming and require the patience of a saint! We have sorted it out for you at The Postal Museum, providing party bags as standard in our packages, containing three popular toys from our gift shop.

8. Clean up

Look at that mess! Don’t worry – our cleaning team will clear up the space for you, leaving you to head merrily home after a great party.
