This morning, we were honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to ceremonially open The Postal Museum. Although there’s still a lot of work to do, the visit marks a huge milestone in our development as we now look to open to the public in full on 28 July 2017.

The visit provided Her Royal Highness with the opportunity to be the first person to see the museum in all its glory including our interactive galleries, representing five centuries of stories from the world’s first social network, the Discovery Room where researchers will be able to explore our archive and the learning spaces that will welcome 10,000 school children a year. She even took a ride on the Mail Rail train!

During her tour, Her Royal Highness met all the staff who’ve worked so hard to build this exciting visitor attraction as well as our partners, volunteers, supporters and key funders including Heritage Lottery Fund, Royal Mail Group and Post Office Limited. Without them, getting to this point just wouldn’t have been possible.

For us, today is much more than just a Royal visit. It recognises the achievements of so many people to deliver something that we hope will allow our visitors to explore our unexpected stories for many, many years to come. It’s been a long and sometimes hard road, but it’s with great excitement that we can say we look forward to seeing you all from 28 July!
