Now, on this one-of-a-kind London history tour, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the pioneering posties who kept the news moving through the streets of the city.

With our expert museum guides, you’ll uncover the capital’s postal past – from the very first post offices, to the route of London’s hidden underground mail railway – and discover touching tales of everyday heroism in Postman’s Park.

These walking tours are perfect for history lovers, post box enthusiasts, and curious wanderers alike.

Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before the start of the tour.

Tours last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and finish at The Postal Museum, 15-20 Phoenix Place, London WC1X 0DA.

Tickets are for the guided tour only and do not include admission to The Postal Museum or a ride on Mail Rail.

Is this walk suitable for children?

This tour will not be suitable for children under the age of 13. This is due to the length of the tour.


Is the walk accessible for all?

The route involves walking on uneven ground on the streets of London and involves some minor steps. The route is around 1.7 miles, and the experience lasts approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. If walking for long periods on time is an issue, this may be difficult.

Will the walk go ahead if it is raining?

Yes, the tour will go ahead on rainy days. Please make sure you are prepared with the appropriate clothing and equipment. In the unlikely event of a cancellation due to extreme weather, we will contact guests ahead of time to reschedule their tour.


How long is the walk?

The complete walk will take 1 hour and 30 minutes. It starts by Bank station (Exit Lombard street, in front of St Mary Woolnoth Church) and ends at The Postal Museum. This is a total distance of approximately 1.7 miles.


Will there be a break during the walk?

No, there will not be a break during the walk.


Can I cancel my ticket?

No, we will not be able to cancel. But it is possible to reschedule the date for the tour.

What will the ticket include?

The ticket includes a guided tour. Tickets for The Postal Museum and a ride on Mail Rail can be purchased separately.


Can I bring a group on the tour or book a private tour?

Private tours will depend on staff availability on the specific date requested.


Can I take food and drink with me on the walk?

Yes, this is absolutely fine. Please keep in mind that there is no break scheduled during the tour.


What if I am running late to gather at the meeting location?

Leave a message with our bookings support team and we will try our very best to ensure you will still make it for the tour. If however, you are more than 15 minutes late you will miss out on the tour.

We advise that you arrive to the meeting location 10 minutes in advance, this ensures that you have found the tour guide and are able to ask any pre-tour questions before it begins.
