Sorting office visits (KS2/3)

Exclusive access behind the scenes of the Mount Pleasant sorting office (for pupils aged 8 and over).

Duration 1 hour  (30-minute sorting office tour, 30-minute training workshop)
Cost £150 per session plus VAT (includes museum entry)
Group size 30 pupils max, up to 2 classes per day
Adult : pupil ratio 1:6 (KS2)  1:10 (KS3) (plus SEND support staff)
KS2/3 Literacy, Maths, Science, Citizenship, Geography

Suitable for years 4 – 9 (differentiated for age group).

Classes will be split into groups of 15 to take part in a tour and training session.

Sorting office tour

Led by Royal Mail employees, the tour will explain how mail is collected from the post box, sorted by hand and machine, and delivered to its destination.

Training session

Find out how Royal Mail operates as a business and how people and technology work together to process thousands of items of mail every day.

Schools are encouraged to bring their own letter to post at the sorting office.

Option to explore The Postal Museum galleries (entry is included in the cost) and ride Mail Rail.
