About the ride
Each train carries a maximum of 25 people.
Classes of 20 pupils or more will be allocated two train times. Smaller classes may ride the train with other museum visitors.
Mail Rail rides are allocated to fit your Timetable for the day.
Available Monday – Thursday in term time
- 10.55 – 11.15
- 11.15 – 11.35
- 11.35 – 11.55
- 11.55 – 12.15
- Limited availability 13.15 – 13.35 and 13.35 – 13.55
£3.50 per person for pupils and adults within the ratios (including SEND support staff).
Additional adults will be charged adult group rate for the ride (£13.50)
Can my class just ride Mail Rail?
Schools can book to just visit Mail Rail ride and Mail Rail exhibition.
This does not include entry to The Postal Museum or use of the Lunch Room. There is a £50 (plus VAT) £60 (inc VAT) charge per class.
Schools must bring the required ratio of adults to children:
- FDN 1:3
- KS1 1:4
- KS2 1:6
- KS3 1:10
- KS4+ 1:15
Mail Rail is an immersive experience with moments of complete darkness, loud noises and mild vibrations that some learners may find overwhelming. Schools are asked to consider this at the point of booking.
Accessible Mail Rail Film is available as an alternative for visitors who might not be able/willing to ride.
