Sorting Office Maths Challenge Trial (EYFS and KS1)

Take part in trial sessions and help us develop our new maths programme.

School aged children carry boxes and parcels to assemble in an interactive building game

The Postal Museum is developing a new EYFS and KS1 maths session for the 2023-24 academic year. If your school is located in one of the 14 Inner London Boroughs, your students could be among the first to experience it.

We are looking for teachers to help us develop our new maths programme, Sorting Office Maths Challenge. There are limited spaces for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes to take part in trial sessions and feed back to our learning team.

  • Sorting Office Maths Challenge

Step into the sorting office and take on group challenges to get the post sorted and delivered on time. You will use mathematical reasoning to put your problem-solving skills to the test in a real-world learning experience.

    Students will:

    • Work in thinking teams to sort and label parcels by shape, size and weight.
    • Use mathematical language to discuss, share and solve problems.
    • Sequence number lines to build small world streets.
    • Calculate number bonds to deliver envelopes to the correct doors.

    Curriculum Links

    • Reception: Maths, Understanding the World, Communication and Language
    • KS1: Maths, Literacy

    Eligibility:

Participating teachers will be asked to share their observations through a feedback form and follow-up consultation meeting with a member of our learning team.
